At Craft Village, we are dedicated to strengthening India’s craft heritage by building a vibrant cultural and creative ecosystem where art, craft, design, commerce, and community thrive together. We believe that craft is not just heritage — it is a living, economic force that drives identity, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Craft and culture are central pillars of the global creative economy — a sector valued at USD 5 trillion, employing millions worldwide, and growing rapidly through design, skills development, heritage tourism, and creative services. Craft Village brings this vision to life through flagship programs such as India Craft Week, the International Craft Awards, craft cluster development, education and training initiatives, curated exhibitions, artist residencies, and experiential cultural activities.
As a national cultural platform aligned with the World Crafts Council International, Craft Village advances India’s rare crafts, supports artisan welfare, and creates meaningful opportunities for collaboration between artisans, designers, learners, institutions, and global audiences.

Craft Orientation Programs and Workshops
Craft Village builds a strong rural–urban connection by sensitizing national and global audiences to the crafts of India through regular training, workshops, and orientation programs. Over the past ten years, more than 10,000 participants have been trained through our initiatives, creating meaningful links between artisans, schools, colleges, industry, government bodies, and consumers, and strengthening the visibility and relevance of Indian crafts in today’s creative economy.

International Craft Day
Observed every year on 15 October, International/World Craft Day celebrates the richness and diversity of world crafts. Craft Village has played a key role in establishing this global observance, bringing together artisans, patrons, cultural organizations, and countries to honour living craft traditions. The first International Craft Day was inaugurated by His Excellency Tomasz Łukaszuk, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, marking the beginning of a worldwide celebration of craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

To strengthen artisan livelihoods and recognize excellence in the craft sector, Craft Village established the International Craft Awards in 2017. These awards honour the outstanding contributions of individuals, organizations, brands, and institutions advancing crafts worldwide. To date, the program has received over 1,000 nominations from more than 40 countries, making it one of the most significant global recognitions in the field of crafts and cultural heritage.

India Craft Week (ICW)
India Craft Week (ICW) is India’s official and the world’s second-largest craft week, bringing together art, design, and culture on a single global platform. The festival provides a unique opportunity for hundreds of artisans and craftspersons to participate free of cost, with no charges for space, sales, or orders—ensuring direct economic benefit to the craft community.
Over its three successful editions, ICW has grown rapidly, reaching over one million virtual visitors in 2020 during its Digital Preview and welcoming more than 6,500 physical visitors in 2021. Even during the pandemic, India Craft Week set a benchmark by hosting the world’s first major hybrid craft event, attracting HNI collectors, diplomats, brands, retailers, global buyers, museums, art galleries, and cultural institutions from across the world.

Since 2019, Craft Village has been creating original films and digital content that celebrate Indian crafts, folklore, and local communities, bringing artisans to the forefront of cultural storytelling.
